We started in downtown OKC as a two-day film festival back in 2001, and 21 years later we’ve grown into a year-round nonprofit with statewide, national, and international engagement. Locally, deadCenter generates an economic impact of more than $5.5 million through our Festival each year and our free education programs reach more than 3,000 students statewide.

WHO WE ARE

Oklahoma's only OSCAR® qualifying film festival returns in 2023, June 8th through 11th, and is excited to introduce a new slate of films to passionate Okie cinephiles. In its 23rd year, the deadCenter film festival is Oklahoma's largest and most celebrated film festival. The fest has been named one of the "20 Coolest Film Festivals" by MovieMaker Magazine and was recently ranked “Top 100 Best Reviewed Festivals” on FilmFreeway. Located in the “dead center” of the U.S., the festival offers close to 200 films over four days to packed audiences of film enthusiasts. deadCenter was founded by filmmakers and takes its role of supporting emerging talent and hosting incoming filmmakers very seriously. Putting amazing films in front of engaged audiences is among the festival’s top priorities, as well as connecting filmmakers, industry professionals, and festival goers, whether that’s at the festival’s Annual Distribution Forum or one of its legendary parties.

While we’re notoriously Oklahoma’s largest and most celebrated film festival, we’re also home to award-winning education initiatives and year-round programming through our Continuum Series. We started in downtown OKC as a two-day film festival back in 2001, and 22 years later we’ve grown into a year-round nonprofit with statewide, national, and international engagement. Locally, deadCenter generates an economic impact of more than $5.5 million through our Festival each year and our free education programs reach more than 3,000 students every autumn.
